In line with our monthly Top 20 Core PC Games Rankings, we have developed a service in collaboration with Overwolf. It will be interesting to see if the follow-up title will make it into the top 20. While the base game will only contain a few trucks and the state of California, the developer has big plans to cover all of North America. SCS Software will launch American Truck Simulator at the beginning of February. As of December 2015, the game had sold more than 3.5 million units. Initially released in 2012, the vehicle simulation game has players driving a choice of trucks across Europe, picking up cargo from various locations and delivering it. In December, Czech development studio SCS Software released an end-of-year update (V1.22) for Euro Truck Simulator 2, which prompted the title’s re-entry into our rankings at #14. Euro Truck Simulator 2 Re-enters the Top 20 When this happens, the title may climb even further up the rankings. Like all our previous games, we’ve made sure to keep Fallout 4 open and moddable at every step in development.” Bethesda has confirmed an early 2016 release of its official Fallout 4 mod tool, as well as DLC and expansion pack. The studio states: “The most important thing in our games is the freedom you have to create your own experience, and modding is a big part of that. Mods have been a huge part of Bethesda’s franchises, adding replay value to the games. Fallout 4 modders are known for their creative and madcap mods, which recently included replacing objects and characters in the post-apocalyptic world with Thomas the Tank Engine. We’ve previously mentioned Bethesda’s support of the modding community. Unsurprisingly, the publisher’s dedication to player involvement and freedom of creation has bolstered the popular franchise. In December, the mod-friendly title soared seven positions to #11. November saw the debut of Bethesda Softwork’s highly anticipated Fallout 4. Shortly after its launch, the open-world RPG hit a peak of more than 445,000 concurrent players on Steam alone.
The positive effect of the World Championship on Blizzard’s MOBA (up seven places in November) seems to have subsided in December. Meanwhile, Heroes of the Storm fell five positions. SCS Software launched Euro Truck Simulator 2’s update, propelling it back into our rankings at #14. Fallout 4 saw the biggest gains, soaring seven spots since its November debut. League of Legends, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive and Minecraft were in the lead for the third consecutive month. Thirteen out of the top 20 titles maintained their positions from the previous month, including the entire top 10. In December, the Top 20 Core PC Games were relatively stable.
